What we build
Retaining Walls options
Concrete sleeper walls
Galvanised steel posts with concrete sleepers. Long life and low maintenance, in plain grey or coloured finishes.
Treated pine walls
Round posts and pine sleepers for a natural timber look at a lower upfront cost.
Block walls
Segmental block walls for front yards and garden terraces, with a clean finished face.
Tiered walls
Two or more stepped walls that turn a steep block into usable levels.
Fence on wall
We build the fence on top of the wall in the same job, so posts and heights line up. See the combinations below.
Wall + fence
Retaining and fencing together
Combine the boundary fence and retaining wall for a clean, coordinated finish across changing levels.

Charcoal concrete + Colorbond
A darker sleeper finish for a strong, contemporary base.

Timber retaining + Colorbond
Solid Colorbond privacy above a natural timber wall.

Timber retaining + timber fence
A fully timber boundary with a warm, consistent finish.

Lapped timber + top cap
Expressed posts, lapped palings and a clean top cap over concrete sleepers.

Plain concrete + timber fence
A practical, long-lasting boundary with timber texture.

Woodgrain concrete + aluminium slats
A modern finish with adjustable slat spacing.

Composite sleepers + Colorbond
A coordinated, low-maintenance option under solid Colorbond.

FAQ
Common questions
Do I need approval for a retaining wall?
In Queensland, walls over 1 metre, or walls close to a building or carrying extra load, generally need engineering and approval. We check this at the site measure and tell you before you get a final quote.
Which retaining wall is best for my yard?
Concrete sleeper walls suit most Cairns yards for long life and low maintenance. Treated pine has a lower upfront cost and a natural look. Block walls suit front yards and garden terraces. We recommend an option after seeing the site.
Can you build a fence on top of the wall?
Yes. We often build the retaining wall and boundary fence in one job, so posts, heights and levels line up.
Do your walls include drainage?
Yes. Every wall we build includes drainage behind it, such as ag pipe, gravel backfill and outlets, so water doesn't build up and push the wall over.
